RISK...Limited. AREA...Southeast Oklahoma. ONSET...Mid Afternoon to Early Evening. DISCUSSION... Scattered rain showers along with low chances of embedded thunder continue this afternoon for mainly northeast Oklahoma into northwest Arkansas. A slight chance of showers and isolated thunder remains overnight tonight across western Arkansas before a mid level disturbance exits the region. Severe weather is not expected. Near to just below normal temperatures remain forecast this afternoon, but an increase in low level moisture will lead to heat index values in the triple digits for parts of southeast Oklahoma. SPOTTER AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT ACTION STATEMENT... Spotter Activation Not Expected.
SATURDAY THROUGH THURSDAY...Dangerous Heat Potential. EXTENDED DISCUSSION... Above normal temperatures return Saturday and persist well into next week. A multi-day stretch of widespread highs in the triple digits is expected, along with daily heat index values from 105 to 115 degrees. Heat headlines will be required for much of this time frame.
